BIOGRAPHY
MAYA WUYTACK
Poet and theatre maker Maya Wuytack (1987) graduated as Master in Dramatic Arts from Herman Teirlinck Institute and the Theatre Conservatory of Ghent, KASK. She writes, performs and directs poetry films and stage productions with crossovers to dance, visual art and music.
As an artist she explores the language of the senses and poetics of the speaking body.
She has published 3 poetry books: Ontbreekbaarheid (2016) and Moederdicht (2021) by Berghmans Uitgevers, in Flanders.
Nothing Chronic (except love) by WAPoets Inc in Australia (2019).
Her poetry film debuut, BEYOND THE BODY has won more than 7 international awards such as Best Female Director, Best Super Short Film, Best Cinematography and the 3rd place Audience Award (Five Continents Film Festival).
Her work has been staged in theatres such as KC Vooruit Gent, NTGent, Campo, City Theatre Sint-Niklaas, Bozar Brussels, Brakke Grond Amsterdam, Canterbury International Arts Festival, Hammana Artist House Beirut, Poetry d'Amour Australia.
Her poetry has won several first prizes and distinctions such as SOET Jeugd & poëzie, Poemtata competition, Flanders Stage Selection New Talent.
The Académie Européenne des Arts awarded her the Golden Medal for Literature.
She was also the winner of Txt-On-Stage at Kunstbende.
Together with her ‘partners in creation’ she founded POST.TRAUM.Collective.
